A big thing i took out of reading this talk is that the whole “growth” “fixed” mindset can really be applied to about every aspect in our lives. People born/raised in certain parts of the world have different mindsets but that doesn’t mean it has to stay that way. In this talk Dweck talks about how children born on the reservation(Native Americans) have these fixed mindsets because all around them is a society where failing is inevitable. Dweck talks about how in just a year and a half Native American students in a school reservation went from the bottom of their district to the top. “This happened because the meaning of effort and difficulty were transformed”. Kids with a “growth” mindset i believe can do anything they put their mind to and the time/effort that goes into that task. Again, this whole “fixed” “growth” mindset is very interesting because it can be applied in every aspect of our lives.
